Survey Results: Which Journalist Will Become a Fulltime Blogger?

Earlier this week I conducted an informal survey asking if you had to guess which print journalist might make the jump to fulltime blogger first, who would you pick? I received about 20 responses total, and the winner is (drum roll): Dan Gillmor at the San Jose Mercury News.

Dan received about 60% of the votes, followed by brother Steve Gillmor at eWeek with 22%. Surprisingly, Tom Foremski (despite recent speculation) only garnered 11% of the votes. Neither Jon Udell at InfoWorld or Hiawatha Bray at the Boston Globe received any votes.

A little more than 6% of the votes were for "none of the above," citing that there's still no proven business/revenue model to support a journalist turned fulltime blogger.

While by no means statistically valid, this survey was still a fun exercise. I do agree that the blogging business models are still in their infancy, but I think that forces are at work right now that will change this quickly.
