Media Transparency and Awkwardness

It’s interesting, when I first read David Berlind’s column last week I thought it was cool that he chose to post an accompanying podcast that captured the interview in its entirety (in the interest of total media transparency).  But then it got me thinking, this practice (if it catches on) has some interesting implications for PR folk – particularly the command and control types.

Case in point, every PR practitioner I know of has (at one point or another) had to intercede on a line of questioning in an interview.  Perhaps the journalist is looking for dirt or prying for information that shouldn’t be shared or is just leading the interview down a weird path.  How odd would it be to have that interruption recorded and then later distributed with the story?

Can you say A W K W A R D?
